Ich bin seit 2006 Oberarzt und leite seit 2009, nach einem Fellowship in der Hepatopankreaticobiliären Chirurgie und Transplantationschirurgie an der University of Toronto, Canada, die Sektion für Hepatobiliäre Chirurgie und Transplantation an der Klinik für Allgemein-, Viszeral- und Transplantationschirurgie an der LMU Klinik (Klinikum Großhadern). 
Derzeit habe ich den Vorsitz des Eurotransplant Council of Medicine and Science inne und wurde für die aktuelle Amtsperiode in die Ständigen Kommission für Organtransplantation der Bundesärztekammer berufen.
Neben der Allgemein- und Viszeralchirurgie ist mein klinischer und wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkte die Leberchirurgie und Lebertransplantation, hier insbesondere bei Lebermalignomen. Meine wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten über die anti-tumoralen Effekte von mTOR-Inhibitoren hatten maßgeblichen Einfluß auf das Gebiet der Transplantonkologie.

I have been a senior physician since 2006 and since 2009, after a fellowship in Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery and Transplantation Surgery at the University of Toronto, Canada, I have been leading the Section of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Transplantation at the Department of General, Visceral and Transplantation Surgery at LMU Hospital (Klinikum Großhadern).  
At present I hold the chair of the Eurotransplant Council of Medicine and Science and was appointed to the Standing Commission for Organ Transplantation of the German Medical Association for the current term of office.
In addition to general and visceral surgery, my clinical and scientific focus encompasses liver surgery and liver transplantation, particularly in liver malignancies. 
My scientific work on the anti-tumor effects of mTOR-inhibitors has had a major impact on the field of transplant oncology.
